I found it
interesting that in an area of the world such as Asia, it's The Philippines
that is literally "front and center" in terms of social media
usage. According to the article
"Social Media Front & Center in Manila" (written by Roger
Strukhoff), Filipinos send up to "2 billion texts sent per day, the
highest percentage of Facebook users in the world, a Twitter audience of 4
million that's growing rapidly-all."
With statistics like these, there should be a large audience to take
advantage of business implications.
Let's take a
look at this for a moment. With the
amount of social media usage stemming from this country of 90 million,
businesses have got to have had an influence in the aforementioned statistics. Being used in conjunction with a product or
service that they're trying to market on social media networks such as Twitter,
Facebook, and Google+, this tactic seems to be an effective way to get the
message out.
